November Proclaimed National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month

by Mary Emma Allen on November 2nd, 2006

President George W. Bush has proclaimed November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, a time to renew our resolve to fight this disease. It’s also a time to remember our loved ones and others who have this disease.  For me, as I mentioned in the previous post, November always brings my mom to mind because this was the month of her birthday and wedding anniversary.

In his proclamation, President Bush calls upon the people of the United States to observe this month with appropriate programs and activities.

To read the complete proclamation, visit http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/10/20061030-20.html

You’ll also find more information about this proclamation at the Alzheimer’s Daily News (http://alznews.org ) archives for October 31.  Alzheimer’s Daily News is an e-newsletter and site produced by Mark and Ellen Warner.  I find this a great place to learn about current happenings in the Alzheimer’s arena.  Their newsletter gives brief summaries of news and research, with links to the original sources.
